Child Protection
Keeping Children and Young People Safe
Our settings in the Scottish Borders work hard to ensure that all children and young people feel safe—within the setting, at home, and in the wider community. Every child has the right to be protected, supported, and cared for.
Within Earlston ELC and Primary School, we strive to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment that promotes inclusion, wellbeing, and achievement for all.
All staff are fully aware of their child protection responsibilities, and every year they attend a mandatory child protection update. Many staff have also undertaken additional multi-agency child protection training. All staff in Education have a statutory and professional duty to take action if they believe a child is experiencing, or is at risk of experiencing, abuse or harm.
Scottish Borders Child Protection Procedures outline the steps we will take if we have concerns that a child is being abused or is at risk, either at home or in the community. These procedures ensure that children and young people receive the right help at the right time.
