Our new topic is the human body we have been learning about the heart, the circulatory system and the skeleton. We decorated our wall with informatoin about the body which we will add to every week with diffrent information.

Netball

Last Week on Tuesday 22nd April P7s and P6s went to a netball tourament at St.Marys in Melrose.We were playing agianst St. Marys 1+2,Channelkirk,Westruther and Earlston 1.We were playing for the Eildon cup.We entered 2 teams, the P7 were team 1 and P6s and 3 P7 were team 2.Earlston 2 drew 2,lost 2 and won one. In the final it was Newtown playing St.Marys 1 and St Marys won. On Monday 27th we all got a certificate for taking part in the tourament. We also got a picture on the same day.

  P6 Residential
On May the 29th,30th,31st p6G and p6H are going on a residential. We are all looking forward to going to Robinswood and are hoping that there are lots of things to do. You will have  to  sleep in a dorm with your friends.

science

In class our topic was science and we were doing a lot of good experiments and we made lava lamps. We tried to see what materials would dessolve in water. The materials were sand ,salt ,cocoa powder and veg oil.

These are test tubes we have been using them for the materials.

We also used snap and fix to see if we could get electricity to go round a circuit to set off an alarm ,fan and a light bulb.

Johnston Cup

On Tuesday the 22nd of April the rugby team went to melrose rugby pitch in the mini bus. Siris, Mitchell, Danny, Jamie, Ryan, Logan, Sean, Morgan, Archie and Nicholas were part of the team. We lost two games and drew against St Mary's. We all had a good time.

Burke and Hare

Through out this term we are going to be learning a play called Burke and Hare. Every week or so actors will visit our school and help us to learn our play and songs. P6 play the Cadavers and Townspeople and p5 are the Navvies and p7 are the Guards and Medical students. Our play will be taking place on Tuesday the 17th of june 2014! We hope you can make it.

The Despertae Journey

We have been reading  a book in class called The Desperate Journey the main chareters are called Kirsty and Davie they are twins. The book is set in Scotland in 1812. It is about the family moving from the Highlands to Glasgow and then they emigrated to Canada. It is a really great book so far.

We have been learning how to sew a  cushion

It was hard for some people and alright for some people but we all finished it. We picked a desingn like a letter, animals or colourful buttons. There is a cross stich and a running stich and hemming stich.

Cricket

On wednesday the 23 of April 2014 both primary 6 clasess went to a crickwt festival in melrose near the hospital. A cricket coach called Rory came in and showed us how to play cricket.We were put into teams of eight and played lots of matches. After all the matches we all got cricket certicates they were really cool.
