School Improvement Plans
Our School Improvement Plan identifies key priorities and proposed developments for the current school session. It is reviewed and written annually, taking account of the needs of our school community alongside local authority and national priorities set by the Scottish Government.
The key purpose of the plan is to provide a clear structure for supporting and improving outcomes for all learners. We are committed to promoting a culture where the views of all stakeholders — pupils, parents, staff, and partners — help shape our priorities. By working together, we ensure our improvement planning reflects what matters most to our school community.
In developing our plan, we also balance school-based priorities with both local and national improvement priorities, ensuring that our goals contribute to wider educational aims.
We actively promote leadership at all levels, recognising that everyone has a role to play in improving our school. Examples of this include:
Parents are consulted on the content of the plan as appropriate, and we encourage open dialogue to ensure our collective vision continues to move the school forward.

We actively promote leadership at all levels, recognising that everyone has a role to play in improving our school. Examples of this include:
- Pupil Action Groups (P4–P7), where pupils have opportunities to influence school decisions and lead improvement projects.
- Parent and staff working parties, which collaborate on specific aspects of school development.
- Designated staff lead roles within school, supporting areas such as curriculum development, wellbeing, digital learning, and inclusion.

Earlston Cluster Improvement Planning & Reporting
As part of the Earlston Cluster, which includes Earlston High School and the eight associated primary schools, we also engage in Cluster Improvement Planning. This collaborative approach focuses on areas of improvement that are common across all schools within the cluster.
By working together, we share expertise, strengthen consistency, and learn with and from one another, ensuring that our collective efforts benefit all children and young people across the Earlston community.
At the end of each academic year, a Cluster Improvement Report is produced to evaluate progress against shared priorities and to identify next steps for ongoing improvement.
